History

The Way Foundation was established in 2014 by David and Kim Romero as a non-profit Christian organization facilitating student sponsorships in Nicaragua. It has since grown to include a staff of local missionaries who facilitate ministry and service efforts across the country.

David and Kim lived in Nicaragua from 2005 to 2010, working with local churches, schools, clinics, and other Christian and humanitarian organizations. During this time they learned that one of the most effective ways to make a lasting impact in developing areas is through education. So when friends and family members asked “how can we help?” the Romeros quickly established a program for sponsorship of local students.

Through this effort, they have been able to witness young students accomplish something that they never thought was possible: becoming the first generation in their families to attend college. The program has continued on to this day, enabling more and more Nicaraguan youth to pursue higher-level educational goals.

With David and Kim now residing in the United States, The Way Foundation performs most of its operations in Nicaragua through the local missionaries, who are supported by donors. This staff works in the local churches and coordinates activities such as student ministry, Vacation Bible School (VBS), youth camps and retreats, work projects, and mission trips.

The Way Foundation is a United States-based non-profit organization headquartered in the Oklahoma City area.
